Turn Signal Switch Issues
Has anyone had a problem with their turn signal switch going haywire? I've got ~ 60K miles on my '06 & the turn signal switch is starting to do weird things. When I turn on the left signal the right one comes on instead, turn on the right signal & sometimes it comes on & somtimes it doesn't. Is this the switch its self or is there a computer managing the input from the switch? How expensive are the switches (turnsignal, hi-low beam, wipers)? Any thoughts???
Let me know - Thanks, Pete |
Yes, there was a good post about this issue. Can't remember the details. Do a search for it.

I had that problem as well. It seems to be the switch from what I have seen. Someone mentioned that the wires might not be long enough and so if the steering wheel is down it might pinch them off a little causing it to go crazy. I ordered a new switch and still have it in the box, because raising the steering wheel worked for me. The switch was on back order also, but not sure anymore.

It's called a multi function switch. I think it's $38.

Well I didn't have any luck at the dealership. I ended up ordering the switch from an e-bay store, $59 shipped to my door in 2 days, can't beat that. The dealer wanted $67 + tax.
Ok so has anyone disassembled one of these steering wheels with the air bag? I know I've got to disconnect both batteries but don't have a clue where to start with the removal of the airbag/horn cover, etc. Any help would be greatly appreciated. - Pete  |
The air bag is contained within the steering wheel. You don't have to mess with the steering wheel. Just take the plastic covers off the steering column. The column is where all your switches are at.

Fixed mine a year ago, took it apart, and wiped the grease turned to oil out of it. Regreased it, been fine over a year now.

The one they sent me doesn't look like yours. They may have sent me the wrong one! NICE...

Well it turns out that they did send me the right part. When I got to looking at it a little closer I figured out that the switch came with the mounting flange attached to it. Once I removed that it was a breeze to install. 15 minutes and I'm legal again! :D By the way the '05 switch is identical to the '06 switch.
Thanks for the assistance. - Pete |
