Truck Value

Considering replacing my 2005 3500 srw SLT for a newer one. The truck is in very good shape for an 05 with 87,500 miles. Kelly Blue Book says truck trade should be minimal 18500 and average of 19500. Dealership 4000 less than these figures. What, in the real world, could I actually get for this truck should I decide to sell outright? Thanks....

You didn't mention if it was a 4x4 auto, manual, and any extras. Those would bring up the price especially if you were selling it on your own. Dealers will low ball you so they can make a profit when they resale it. Just the nature of the resale game.

I went through that at a dealer once. I was trading a 1500 Ram for a new Dakota. The salesman told that the trucks just don;t hold their value like people think they do. Then I asked him, "Then, why would I buy another one?"

Good point, It's a 2 wheel drive automatic and 2 tone paint.

Dealers make me laugh, My dad was recently looking for a pickup. Talked to a dealer 60 miles away had a 2005 ram 4 door shortbed cummins automatic 4x4, 120000 miles had just came in on trade filthy as all get out. Dad was quoted 28,000$ price by dealer. yep sure dont hold there value!! lol needless to say he did not buy it.
