Tow mirror only adjusts right when flipped up

after returning from a recent camping trip I flipped down my mirrors, and the passenger side will only power adjust in one direction when flipped down. I can manually adjust by hand.

when flipped up in the tow position, it adjusts in every direction just fine. There's got to be some sensor that swaps the button's direction, since when flipped up, the up/down is now left/right and vise versa.

anyone have any experience with this?

There's a set of sliding contacts in the rotating joint. it's the arrangement of the contacts that determine the direction of the adjustment. There's no sensor per-se, it's just the contacts on the mirror side rotate from one set of contacts to the other and back on the door side depending on whether the mirror is up or out. Probably got some dirt or corrosion on yours and moving them a few times cleaned them up.
