Is the tonneau cover offered by Dodge worth the money. Is it the one with snaps along the bed. Would I be better to get an aftermarket one. Dealer says I have a couple of weeks to decide. He has no opinion. thanks

How much are they charging you for it would be the question... You can get some really nice aftermarket ones for $200 - 300 bucks.... <br><br>Tony

It is worth the money to order it as an option. The tailgate and front of the box are slightly rounded and the factory tonneau rails follow the contours. It uses a plastic insert sewn into the seam to attach it to the rail. It does up well in cold weather and the whole thing is well made. It cost very little more then a decent aftermarket job. Plus you get the three year warrantee on it. FWIW<br><br>Casey

Yep - the factory tonneau is worth the money, IMHO. I've got it, kind of hard to see in my pics though 'cause of the angle.

I've had some of the expensive aftermarket tonneaus in the past, and this one beats 'em in build quality. It's strong and fits the lines of the bed perfectly (the new truck beds not only bow out at the sides, like the old ones, they also bow in at the front now too). An added bonus is the tonneau comes installed on the truck from the factory.

For some reason, I keep seeing mention that the Dodge tonneau uses snaps. I even saw that on the Dodge accessories site. But, the new ones (like mine) have a channel-retention design with a semi-rigid plastic tab that runs the circumfrence of the cover and locks into the aluminum framing. It makes for a tight, non-warped fit and works very well in keeping dust and water out of the bed. Even the Dodge sales reps I know have been genuinely impressed when they inspect the tonneau.
