Hi Guys,

I installed a 6 disc CD changer under the rear seat of my 2004 Ram Quad Cab. I was able to slide the changer under the seat and all the way back until it almost hit the rear wall of the cab. This enabled me to still use the under seat storage area.

Anyway, I did not want to drill holes through the floor of the cab to mount the changer. Well, it turns out that Velcro sticks excellent to the "carpet" material under the rear seat. Basically, the entire bottom of my CD Changer is covered with the "hook" side of the velcro. The soft furry half of the velcro is not used.

I just set the CD changer in place and pushed down on it and the Velcro held it in place firmly to the under seat carpeting. This was really painless and slick! The only real concern might be a bad accident and concern about the CD changer breaking loose. However, since my rear seat is always in the down position there would be no place for the CD changer to go if it did break loose.

I just thought I'd share this tip in case it helps someone.

Now the thieves don't need a scrwedriver..I hear ya about not wanting to drill through floor though.

 

Theives probaly dont have the time or money to even relize that the seats probaly fold up

Just an FYI, even if the CD changer is bolted in a really good hit to the rear end of the truck will dislodge it. In June 05 our 99 CTD was rearended by a half ton doing about 70 when she locked up the brakes and slid for about 60 ft, the CD changed came dislodged and nailed my husband in the ankle. left quite the bruise.
Good idea though for using the velcro
