they found my dream truck...BUT

well ive had the dealer looking for my dream truck and they have finally found it...mineral gray, 07, laramie, 5.9, 4x4 and an auto....BUT the price seems a little steep to me. he said the window sticker is $47,315 and im lookin at a price of around $39,000 before tax and license...

what do you guys think i should tell them as my price? this is my first ever purchase without someone being there to help me negotiate a price

If they know its your dream truck they're gonna try and stick it to ya. You should offer around $37k. If they won't take it, walk away!! They'll call ya.

I have a very similar truck - except SLT - I don't like leather. Mine was not anywhere near that, but if you add the Laramie and more options (like Nav, which I also dont have) it could get pretty high... Also depends where you are located....

There are 2 packages for Laramie. H and J. About a 2K difference, sticker...

Mine is a J pkg, w/ Nav, U-Conn, and Sunroof. Sticker was $50 and change. I would say $10K off sticker on a 5.9 should be easy. Should be $12K for a true dream truck. This is all before T&L. If you can get it with T&L for that you da man or you certainly don't live in CA where Lic. fees are outrageous!

just because its your dream truck, dont be blinded by its beauty. i know if i couldnt afford a truck on a 5 yr note or less i would be looking for something else. dont let them talk you into a 72 or 84 month note IMO

i can easily afford it, its just that i have an 05 truck thats just about paid for and i just really need to weigh out if i really want payments again or not...

if i wait much longer my odds of finding an 07 5.9L is gonna be even more slim

You can play off the "dream truck" image if the dealer is aware that it is in fact very desirable to you by simply saying, "You're right, it is my "dream truck" at $37K out the door, otherwise it's just a truck that you're trying to sell and I'm not interested.". They'll make it work for you if they want to sell it.

If you really want the last of the 5.9 you've already made this decision.

If you walk out the door, they will call you back. You do it on your terms, not theirs.

Just Remember....

Hey Dodge Kid
Just remember they are getting very hard to find! My dealer in New York had to go to Carson City Nevada to find my 07 5.9L 4x4 3500 Laramie Quad & it took three weeks to find. Grab the 5.9 NOW!!!!!!!
Good Luck
