Stopping Distances for an 05 Quad Cab 4x2 Dually

Does anyone know where I can find some official (Magazine, Government and/or Dodge Tests) stopping distances at 55-60 MPH for an 05 Quad Cab 4x2 Dually loaded with various weights in the bed of the truck?

I have a traffic ticket I am fighting and need some ammo for the courts.

Thanks,

Joe

I've never seen any stopping distances for any vehicle published anywhere other than in car magazines. I've never seen a truck like yours but I'm thinking 60-0 is in the 200 ft. range ? Your average car is 130 ft. approximately.

Did you try NHTSA? It might have something on there.

Try the dealer...see if they have the factory spec books. I used to be able to ask for them when i was researching my ford, years ago.

What were the tickets for anyway?

I know what happens when you ***-u-me something but from his first question I would have to say his tickets were pertaining to the running a red light or something of the sorts. Lets hope it wasn't because of a crash or something....

emussa,

You were right! Here is the story. I get pulled over for doing 67 (On Cruise Control) in a 65 four miles after the previous intersection where there were two officers in different cars from different departments. The cop gets to my truck and starts reading me the riot act for speeding (no radar, no helicopters just his visual analysis) through the prior intersection which is marked 55 (I had my cruise set at 55)! This is a big time dangerous intersection MAJOR accidents all of the time SO I NEVER speed through there no matter what! Anyway, after yelling at me for 2 or 3 minutes he asks me if it was possible I was doing 60mph. My reply was only if my cruise control and speedometer werent working! He goes back to his car and comes back with one violation written on the ticket for 60mph. I sign the ticket (Bull****) as my name.

I am so ****** off I go and write notes about the whole incident and put the ticket up on my frig. I get to court and find out that after I signed the ticket he also wrote me up for running a red light! This forces me to fight the ticket because now I would end up with points no matter what as you can only traffic school one violation (I was going to fight it anyway for the 60 in a 55).

The original judge even shook his head and said "I cant believe he wrote you up for walking faster then the speed limit!"

I was going to force the officer to demonstrate how he was able to determine my speed figuring he would have to count in his head the time he was able to observe me and the distances I had traveled in that time to arrive at my true MPH. I figured he would have studied that speed but I was going to make him demonstrate but peppering him with various scenarios and only give him the time to answer in whatever time he said that he was able to determine his original estimates and use that information along with published reporsts of my trucks stopping distances to show the court that he had no clue what he was talking about.

In the long run, I knew he wouldnt show up as he had no way to prove his arguments against me. His biggest mistake was citing me for 60 first and then the red light deal. I think if he just cited me for running a red light I would have had a tougher fight on my hands!

Take Care,
