Stereo gurus need your help

Ok guys so I got a guy that has a AVIC-N2 and a AVIC-N3 thats new that he may tade for some quad parts I have. My question is, to use the navigation features for this, can you utilize the stock Sirius antena or how does it work? Would I need anything special to make it install into my truck?

Also what is the differance in the two units?

I'm not sure about the difference between the two.

And yes, there are some things you will need to make it work. Firstly a canbus adapter to wire it in, as the factory stereo uses this instead of traditionally labeled wires (speed senor, dimmer, illumination, switched power, etc). Second, if you want to have proper fade and balance controls, you will need to by-pass the factory amp (if you have the infinity stereo). And third, you will need yet another adapter to get the steering whell controls to work, if you have them.
Regarding the GPS, no you cannot use the sirius antenna, the units should come with their own. I have my GPS antenna sitting under the dash center speaker hole, works great and keeps it out of sight.

Thanks Vic,

I do have the Infinity speakers. By bypassing the amp, will I notice a change in the sound from the speakers?

About what should the installation and that harness run me?

IDK about the cost of installation, as i did my own, but the here's the hardware.

Pac adapter = $130
Steering wheel adapter (optional) = $75
Amp Bypass = $30

I put in JVC's high end GPS, and i actually think the sound quality went down. Mostly because the factory amp puts out, and also has internal frequency cross overs and such matched to the speakers. However, i plan on changing all the factory speakers as well.

Gurr... I don't know squat about stereos to try and mess with all that. I don't want my quality to go down, but I don't want to spend a furtune on getting extra crap to make it work either. I may just leave it alone and stick with what I got.

I think if a guy;s not going to change it all out, your better off sticking with stock, or upgrading to a Dodge Nav unit or the new My-Gig. I would assume those units would interface with the factory amp.

I think I read something about the Dodge navi not working with the 6disk and sirius. Although I don't really care about the sirius becasue I don't use it.
