spots on the driveway

good morning,

noticed a spot on the driveway the last several days. got under the truck and there is a green/yellow fluid leaking off the bottom part where the belt goes around the lowest pully. not sure what the part is called but it seems to be leaking from the part that the pully is attached to. is not antifreez and is an oily substance with no oder. looking for advice and info so that i can speak with the dealer and sound like i know what i am speaking about.

thanks for any information you can give me.

I should have mentioned as you stand in front of the truck the spots are on the left and very close to the front of the truck. wondering if this yellow/green fluid might be power steering fluid and if so would this be covered under the 70k drive line warranty. my guess is that it is not covered and i have 69,700 miles on the stock 5.9 truck.

thanks again,
david

If its yellow green I would assume its antifreese, power steering fluid is usually red colour as its atf+4 , I would check your rad hoses, and the valve for draining the rad. good luck

Maybe your water pump. They have a weep hole when they start to go bad it will start leaking.

You fuel may look green/yellowish too. Don't rule that out. You power steering, tranny, and brake fluid are all not yellow or green, so you can rule all of those out. Only fluids that are that color are fuel and anti freeze. Something makes me want to say that your anti freeze should be dyed a differant color from the factory in these trucks.

Edit: ok so I went and checked my radiator, and the fluid is in fact pink. The only fluid that would match that color should be the fuel.

Kind of glad this got brought up cause I went out side and I have a little spot of red fluid under my truck. Just did some maitnance the other day. Hopefully I over filled something.

Welp, It seems I have a rubber hose that is leaking coolant. It's a 2 inch peice of rubber that is attached to the two foot peices of metal tubing that goes into the cab. Why in gods green earth would they put a rubber hose there is beyond me!

well, repaired under warranty. seems an "0" ring for the AC was leaking fluid. i asked the dealer why it would be colored and they told me that last time they replaced the compressor/condensor (not sure which) a dye was put into the system, thus the color.

got the AC fixed several months ago and it costed me $1200. sure glad it was under warranty.
