SKIM Woes

Long Story short here. Lost only key.Went to dealer and paid like 350 bucks for 2 new cut programmed keys with panic unlock remote. When I showed up to get the keys I was informed they only had one fob blank and one gray non fob key that could cut but not programmed. I paid for two so I could program my own spares. Anyway I needed at least one key that worked so I left ****** off paying a slightly discounted bill. I lost the one Fob and am now left a gray non fob key that will open my doors start the truck but the engine dies shortly after. I bought two blank Fob keys from Amazon. What is my best option to get them cut and programmed. Thanx in advance for any suggestions. Philip

Pretty sure it's dealer only as you have no programmed keys, even just one programmed key is the dealer only here, just went through this last month with FIL.

If a grey transponder key made by a dealership fails to keep motor running then it was not correctly programmed. The fob, as I understand, only controls the key-less entry/alarm. Go back to dealership and have them give you a working key. A key can be cloned ( works identically to original ), but what is the point if original doesn't work.

I too think that a gray fob can be programmed. I would tell the dealer that the gray one should be programmable.

He still needs 2 programmed keys to program one by yourself.
