Sirius/XM Satellite Radio...is it worth it?
I know this isnt exactly DTR material but I've noticed quite a few members have satellite radio according to their signatures. I'm considering getting Sirius, my room-mate has it and really likes it.
Is it really worth having over just regular FM radio? My CD collection is getting very old/repetitive on long trips. The comedy and sports channels would be something different to have on long road trips instead of the same CDs or searching for local radio stations in the middle of nowhere...
Input please!!

I love it. I won't have another vehicle without it. We usually take trips where there are dead spots for radio stations. It's really not that expensive considering the variety you get. In Cheyenne we don't get that many "good" stations so I don't even listen to regular radio anymore.
I'll never drive without Sirius again. Not so sure what this merger is gonna bring though. If prices hike because suddenly one company has a monopoly of the market, I'd get rid of it. I've also heard that there is going to be programming packages, much like satellite tv does. If that's the case, I can see getting all the channels I listen to being more expensive.
It's definitely worth it. Both companies have similar programming packages at the moment too. I never lose reception either. The biggest plus is no commercials, but that all comes down to how much they bother you. Me, I despise them personally.

I've got both and prefer the XM. The rock stations on XM are great. Sirius tends to play what I'd call more popular tunes that get overplayed on FM while XM seems to play more variety.
As far as is it worth it? Only if you drive for more than a couple of hours a day. I drive for a living so for me I don't see how I ever lived without it. If I had a regular 9-5 job with a short daily commute I wouldn't waste my money on sat radio.

I got one for X-Mas, and eventually let the subscription run out. I didn't think I needed to be paying almost thirteen bucks a month to listen to the radio. I was wrong. It's worth it, there are some commercials but a lot fewer than FM radio. I'm hooked.

I don't think I could ever be without my Sirius again. It's so nice when traveling, always having quality reception, variety and quantity of stations, and can listen to Bronco football even when out of town.
The only time I lose signal is when I drive through a tunnel or sometimes when I pull under a fuel station canopy or car wash.
Even driving through the mountains the reception is excellent.
I have XM through the T.V.,but don't care for it as well although it's still better than regular radio.
Sirius does offer lifetime subscriptions for each radio.
Also with any subscription you can listen on line through the internet.
I'm hooked on Outlaw country.

I love my Sirius radio. I travel out of my area a lot, and it's great to have several good stations in my presets that I can listen to where ever I am - tough I tend to listen to only 2 or 3. I'm on the 1 year free that came with my truck, and when July comes around, I'll start paying for it. It's definitely worth it.
I think it is worth the price. I have a lot of road time in areas where the only thing you can get is NPR. I have a diverse taste in music so their is a lot for me to listen, theres still a lot of garbage though. Plus the comedy, talk radio, and streamed television shows. So yeah I'd say it's a good deal. As far as XM vs Sirius Id say theyre about the same, I have both, not both in my truck, I have a handheld XM I use on the tractor and I have Sirius in my truck
