Shelf life of Diesel Fuel

Does anyone know if diesel goes bad after X amount of months, say 6 months?

Thanks

six months- i would say you are fine- but it all depends on how it has been stored. what type of container was it in?? sealed? where was it stored? which diesel fuel -fuel #1 or #2?. was the fuel treated?? six months or less, you should be fine- just mix it with fresh diesel fuel.

six months no problem.

you may want to put some treatment in there to prevent or minimize microbial growth.

Diesel fuel will last years, especially with a full tank. At least the good old stuff did. The ULSD has no track record. A shot of biocide is a good idea.

we have a 100000 gallon back up diesel tank for our Gens, firepumps and boilers. I know that some of the fuel in that tank is from when it was filled up the very first time. We have not added to it in 3 years but about 6 years ago we used about 25000 gallons over a winter we were on natural gas abatements. We have it tested every spring and it has never been bad
