Replacement fuel tank? - 2006 2500 SB

Hello all. Attempted to install the fuel tank vent mod on my '06 2500 and drilled the hole 1/2" to close to a cross member. Instead of trying to patch the hole and drilling another one, I would like to get a replacement fuel tank and do it right.

I have looked at Aero Tanks and Transfer Flow units but they seem very pricey. I will call the dealer and local junk yards tomorrow but was looking for other suggestions.

If possible, I would like to get a larger tank as we pull a large camper and need the additional fuel storage area.

Thanks,

Best bet may be a junkyard, the aero tank/transfer flow replacement tanks I believe only fit longbeds, I wanted a tank larger than stock too, but I have a shortbed, and I cant afford the bedspace for an aux tank...

Aerotank does make an OEM replacement tank for shortbed Dodges. It fits 03-07 short wheel base, extended and crew cab, diesel. It's a 60 Gallon Replacement and the part number is SB-D60.

The downside is the spare tire hangs 6" lower. Mostly not an issue with stock tires and 4x4, but could be annoying otherwise.

Thanks for the replies. I was looking at the Aerotank web page today and noticed if I place an order in January 2007, I can get a 10% discount off the cost of the tank. I will call after the first of the new year and look into the discount and cost of the tank.

I don't know why they mention $183 for "labor" on the price sheet. I guess that is if you let them install it. Any ideas?

Thanks,
