I just got the letter from Chrysler and can confirm this is definitely not a warranty issue for 2003-2009's. Call ahead to confirm they have the parts!

in Sept. Dodge rebuilt most all the front end under recall inspection of my truck. The dealer said the letter was for a look-see and I went out the next day with a complete new front end. It all looks twice as beefy as it was before.

I just took my 2004 in with 158,000 km for the ball joints. They ended up giving me all 4 ball joints, sway bar bushings, u joints, and they mentioned a tie rod end. When i went to pick it up i did not see the tierod end on the work order so i crawled under the truck and was shocked to find this new updated steering. It is huge compared to the stock stuff. I also got a new damper and a new pitman arm. I looked through the numbers and it has AA pitman and the AE steering linkage. I have to say i was pleasantly surprised that Dodge did this. I guess it saves me some money when i do my Dynatrac kit. Not bad for a $100 deductible and a wheel alignment.

Can you post a pic of the upgraded suspension, I want to make sure the dealer knows what they are talking about....

I would call a couple of other dealers and give them your VIN# to see if your truck is on the list.

Had my 2006 replaced with the "kit" last April. Now, 14k miles later, the inner tie rod end has a nasty click. Does anyone know where I can buy JUST the Inner Tie Rod for the kit? All the part numbers reference the whole kit (for around $225), and I can't find individual part #s of the components. I have also tried typing in an 09 in all the parts search engines but they don't list just the tie rods.
Also, if you've had your's upgraded, check your inner tie rod. Apparently I'm not the first to have probs with the replacement.
Thanks for any help.

I had ,ight replaced with the kit aswell in May 09 and today the driver side tie rod end sheared off driving down the road.

I say to still be careful that is 2 tie rods this year that crapped out at 80 km/h.

My 1st updated OEM driver side tie rod on the '07 only lasted one year/10k mi. Fortunately it was caught during alignment before it got that bad. Replaced w/Moog greaseable unit. We'll see how that goes...

ok this topic is obviously like beating a dead horse..... BUT, some questions..

just went to the dealership this morning for an alignment, and was told i need new ball joints and the new steering setup... told em im not gonna put oem bj's in the truck, and they said ok..... but onto the steering matter

my questions..
1) So what is the general opinion? is the "new" steering linkage better, stronger? or is the "old" style fine?

2) isnt there "new style" aftermarket parts we can replace the "old style" with, so we dont have to mess with the dealer and oem parts?

3) should i just shell out the money to put the "new" style on? (making sure the parts are AE)

please help
