Projector headlights AND HIDs Together ??
Here is my question...help me out here. Looking into the H.I.D. system for my Ram, BUT you lose high beams since there is only one bulb. NOW... If I buy a projector headlight (which now has 2 bulbs) can I convert the lows into H.I.D.s? And if I can, will this lose the "projection" of the low beam ? Not up to speed as to what will and what won't work here. Thanks, Dan

Dont they make a bi-xenon bulb? not sure what is in the 03, but i think that they make a bulb that allows you to keep your hi's. but to anwser your question on the projecton headlights. they are not true projector headlights, they only use a lense to diffuse the light. they are still using the rear of the headlight housing to do the reflection of the bulb, basically...you shoudl not "lose" the projection you are tlaking about. you will need to put a diode in to prevent cycling the hid when you click over to high. this will keep the lows on all the time and produce more light output anyway. i would recomend trying to find a bi-xenon bulb.

Make it work. Most projectors I have seen have motors in them. High beam just raises the light line. Probally will take some time to calibrate it, but in the end it would be awesome. I would buy another set of headlights off eBay or something and chop them up, make the projector lense fit. Oh and I would stick with Hella bulbs and balasts.

I was thinking about this as well. But most of the projector head lamp kits says that they are not compatable with HID bulbs as HID's may cause damage to the head lamp assembly. This I did not understand since HID's run a little cooler. I ask a couple eBay sellers as to why this was and got no response, I may just go with Bi's.

there arent any "true" projector headlights out for our trucks... best you could do is make a pair with some lexus projectors and mod them into your housing. go bi-Xenon for the 9007.

The fellow DTR member I got my HID from had them in the ebay projectors and all was good. Right now I dont feel like spending another $220 on the ebay LED projectors but I already have the HID H1 bulbs for them.
They do sell HID kit with Hi/Lo and would be cheaper then having to but the projectors and HID's.
I'm happy with my Lo beam only hID's in the factory housing

Tons like this

They look and act like projectors. Heck I have a 5 year old pair of Kragen projectors. Its just a thick lens over a bulb. Ive never heard of anybody cutting up a Lexus projector and putting it in another vehicle

if you are doing an hid kit then you dont need hi beam, even with the best aftermarket headlamps at 4000k the hid's would be 2000k brighter, that is if you go with 6000k's and you should because those are as close to sun light as you can get.
