PML rear diff moisture/seepage...

Hey guys, I have had my PML cover on several months... I notice that no matter how I torq the drain plug at the bottom I still get a build up of a little bit of moisture!!! NOt enough to even drip, just enough to collect dust on the bottom near the drain bolt. PML says I might have a "Bir" which I have checked. I added a plastic and Felt washer with the copper stock on, etc. Same deal. SO I have just been degreasing it every time I wash the truck. Anybody else have any ideas?? Robber O-ring? Washer??

Another reason to spend a couple bucks more for the Mag-hytec that uses an o-ring.

I have the same issue. At the next drain I will fix it with a little teflon paste on the threads.

Thanks, would Teflon tape work???? I was thinking of some sort of thread sealer too, but Never did it... I did put thread sealer ( Not locker) on each bolt when I installed it... I have no problems draining the oil into a clean pan then pumping it all back in there. Thanks!

Teflon tape will work, but paste is much easier (for me).

No seal is perfect....

Over time (maybe years) you will see what is called molecular migration. Molecules seep past the seal and start collecting, looking like a leak, where you will see dirt/dust.

I've had good luck with Teflon tape in the past. Just make sure to wrap it on the plug in the opposite direction of the threads.

That's correct. In fact, I put it on left handed to ensure it's done right.

My PML trans pan would do teh same as well. Enough that it would be damp of ATF by the plug when I would get under the truck. I put a couple wraps of teflon tape on it and been fine since.
