Phoenix, AZ truck owners

Ok Guys

I am selling my 06 and buying an 08 in about two weeks. Curretly I live in Colorado, moving down there VERY soon, and need some input on my next purchase.

Does a white truck really work for you down there?

Leather seats are they really a plus or a minus in that weather?

Any options you guys might suggest, for or against, besides heated seats,....

Many thanks in advance

White and no leather is good. I came from Arvada in 03 with a blue 97 CTD and a Buick with leather and they are both gone, now. White and cloth are much cooler. I went to 85w140 in the diff but I already did that in Co. and it worked great. Welcome to planet Arizona! My SIL and grandson are here from Minn. right now and they are in awe! Craig

Another vote for white and cloth (although my silver 2500 doesn't heat up too bad either)

X 2 on the silver and cloth.... Vegas is close enough to PHX, once you hit 110*, does it really matter anymore?!

I have a tan truck, and its fine in the heat. I think the white, tan, silver, and even the lighter blue trucks are good in the heat. I had leather in all of my trucks here, its not a big deal. A little hot when you get in with shorts on, but not terrible.

What color is the '06? Does it have leather seats?

Are you sure you want a new truck?

Mine is Silver with cloth, but haven't spent a summer in it yet. (Bought it Sept. last year.)

I imagine a remote start would be beneficial, as long as you:

1) Have the AC turned on high before you last shut down the truck.

2) Don't mind the increased theft potential.

If you are definitely getting a new truck, Best color for the desert is the light Khaki metallic. Doesn't show dust and dirt as much.

Mine is white w/ gray leather. At first, I was concerned about the leather in summer. The only key learning was to NOT wear short-shorts; if you wear long shorts, the backs of your legs are protected and the not leather doesn't bother your legs.

My Opinion. We're sixth generation Arizona ranch types.

Forget leather seats.
Forget Heated Seats unless you're going to Flagstaff or the White Mtns.
Exterior White or Silver.
4 x 4 Auto
Limited Slip
Protection Group
Bridgestone Dueler "E" Rated A/Ts'

The most important thing you can do for yourself is to order the factory equipped Alarm and Sentry Key. Many, many trucks are being stolen here and crossing the border in open country (not through the ports of entry, I might add). If travelling to Tucson and SE Arizona watch your truck all the time.

USMC, if you do end up with leather seats, just cover them with seat covers for summer months.

Definately White. I lived in Queen Creek for 5 years...I definately vote against leather, it's a good way to add insult to injury when you step into a 140 degree vehicle, and cannot even put your arm down on the armrest.

One thing I did not see posted ( or I missed it) is to tint the windows!! I live in El Paso and our summers are about the same as AZ (almost!!) and EVERY vehicle I buy gets the windows tinted within a week of purchase. It makes a huge difference. I guess you decided on the color white which is a good choice. I like my light blue (Atlantic Blue) as it hides the dirt better than a dark color but is still not dark enough to get too hot.
