This is something I've wanted Dodge to start doing for quite a while now, but apparently they aren't listening when I stand on my front porch and shout at them. I've briefly thought of trying to adapt a setup myself, but frankly I think it is beyond my skillset to install perfectly enough to meet my expectations. If you decide to give it a try, PLEASE post your results and what model unit you went with. It may be the motivation I need to try and tackle it as well.

I've always wondered why anyone would want a key pad when we have the keyless entry with the keyfob. Questioned why Ford still used them.

So when it's -30 in the winter i can leave my truck running with the doors locked and not have to carry 2 sets of keys. Also, never have to worry about locking my keys in the truck.

I bought one of these on ebay

It splices into the power doorlocks. The keypad requires no drilling at all. I haven't got around to installing it yet, doesn't look complicated but i think i'll need a hand deciphering the wiring diagram.

just give it a little while and the key will come out of the switch in any position then you dont need anything. or at least every vehicle i have owned except an 04 chevy would. i hated that truck. every time i came to a gate had to kill it to get in a place.

Man, theives would love you. All they would have to do is bust your window and off they would go with your truck, keys and all.

super nice when you are out fishing all day, and dont want to risk getting your 300 dollar key wet.

I can't see a use for it either, let the Ford boys keep it!
When I go fishing I keep my keys in a water proof zip lock along with my fishing license.

No choice in the winter but to leave it running if it's -30 out. Every single day I leave my truck running in parking lots. It is better for the truck to stay running rather then killing it for a couple minutes. Not going to let thieves change it.

A better option is to install a remote start system that allows you to keep the truck running while you turn the key to off and take it with you and lock the doors. If a thief breaks in and trys to steal it then it will shut off as soon as they touch the brake, also the steering is locked up. At least thats how it works in my car.

I use both my factory remotes in my truck, I keep the extra in the console just in case I want to leave the truck running while I run into the store. I'm not sure I would know how to use a key in the door anymore.

That keypad on the Fords are just really handy, you don't know how much you use one until you have one. If the aftermarket ones were really simple, and all you had to do was sync it to your factory keyless entry, I'd have one.
