Out-of park safety alarm recall

New guy here. Took my '04 in to the dealership to get an oil change. Decided to have them take care of the safety recall while it was there. Wasn't really sure what the fix was, but tried to kill two birds with one trip. Turns out the recall fix was to make the horn honk if the truck moves while the door is open. Sort of hard to hook up a trailer and have to keep closing the door! Is it possible to reverse the procedure? The dealership won't do it (even for money) due to safety concerns. Any ideas other than to put an on/off switch on the horn, or yank the fuse?

Mine usually saves my life at about 4:00am. Saves my neighbor's lives too. They really appreciate it.

I had to sign a waiver to keep them from doing it.

Just buckle the seat belt together when hooking up. Seems to work for me.

as long as I have my foot on the brake and the rear brake lights are on the horn doesnt go off with door open in reverse. Tried clicking the seat belt no good also a couple of clicks to the parking brake till the light comes on the dash still no good. Seems every truck is different. I plan on just installing a switch so I can isolate the door and the truck wont know its open.

That's another good idea. Could just take the door position sensor apart and connect the wires, I guess.

I'm im the process of milling out a copy off the seat belt tap so I can just keep it in the door pocket till I need it. I was told by dealer it is not revesible once done.

The easiest to do is to close the lock mechanism on the door when you open it. The door thinks it's shut and you can back without the nice honk blaring. When you are done, pull the door handle to reopen the mechanism and shut the door. Easy as that.
