Nerf Bars
Looking for a set of chrome for a QC. Any real difference in the quality? I have heard of westin and smittybuilt, but they come with a much higher price. Seems like the majority on ebay are knockoffs, hence the cheaper price. Just wanted to bounce the idea around.
Thanks |
I would stick with the bigger names and get stainless or they rust way to fast

I've got Westins on my truck,my dad has some ebay knockoffs. His mounted the same way mine did,and are just as stout. His weren't much cheaper than mine were.
I'll have to ask him and see what brand his are. I bent my passenger side bar during hunting season. I had the entire weight of the truck resting on the bar before it bent.Never did bend enough to hit the cab. Did exactly what I wanted them to (protect the cab) I'm impressed with the Westins. I'll probably give them another go when I replace them this Spring. |
I have the Westin nerf bars (stainless steel)and they are holding up pretty good. I have noticed some pitting on the tubes. Keep in mind this is the 4th winter for them too. Around here they use road salt by the TONS in the winters [yuk] . The plastic pads weren't staying down and they sent me new ones under warranty last year.

Mine are Innovative Creations Inc.. pretty stout.. solid stainless steel

I have Nasta step bars, the price is great and since "everything" in the kit is stainless including all bolts and brackets they top just about every other brand.
I use to have Westin step bars which were chromed stainless, but since all the brackets and bolts were painted steel they just about rusted off the truck... |
I had nerfs on my truck until I chucked a big rock from the front tire up at the right side nerf bar when doing some off-roading. Bent the right one up and against the cab, couldn't get the pass side doors open, so now they are off the truck.
I am not sure I will put on another set, after my experience with not being able to open the doors I pondered about safety issues - if I was in an accident and couldn't get out of the truck or they prevented access to someone injured, not happy with those possibilities. CD |
I agree with the Nasta's. They are all stainless including all the hardware. I also got him them for a fraction of the cost of the Westin's.

They are cool though. |
Back Country Nerfs...
They have held up pretty good for the price. Also take quite of a beating with the 315's and aftermarket wheels. IMHO, anything that is stainless steel and has a lifetime warranty...you can't go wrong with. |
