Need help deciding plz

Hello guys,

Looking to get me a quad cab long bed ram. But dont know what to choose dually or single wheels, 5.9 or 6.7 engine, 2500 or 3500, auto or manual transmission. I pull a light trailer and need the long bed to carry stuff. Also would like to make it faster and maybe some nice wheels. What would you guys choose ? Pics would be great as well. Cant wait to join the ram club

I would go with a 5.9L for sure. I'd choose a single rear wheel, but i am biased. If you tow a bunch then stick with a dually 3500, if not go with a single 3500 if funds permit.

Being that you tow light I would go with single wheels and a 2500. And being as you want to make it faster I would go with a %.9 with a manual tranny. The automatics will stand up to the stock motor or one that is slightly modified but thats all.

I'd go with a 5.9, if you want to drop some $, go with the auto and get it built. Handshakers are easier to make stronger, (tripple disk clutch), but you need 100 more horses to run with an equally equiped auto. 2500,3500, that's your choice if you are not getting a DRW. If you don't tow a lot of heavy stuff, I'd definatly go with a SRW. Less hassle.

If you're going with a long bed I'd go with a dually, they look sweeter. I would also go with the 6.7, but that is because I love mine. As far as the tranny goes it depends if you want to shift or not. I drove both the auto and manual and chose the manual. I really like my truck and would not change anything about. My advice is buy what you really want that way you don't regret it.

Based on what you stated you would be using it for, I'd go with the 5.9 regardless, SRW, and transmission is a personal preference. If you don't drive in stop and go traffic a lot I'd go with the standard. If you think you'd get tired of shifting, go with the auto.

I would do the 5.9, SRW since you tow light. If you have the funds to build an automatic, go that route. If you don't, get the manual and put in a stronger clutch. But if you get to a certain level clutches can get expensive....2500 or so for a DD with hydraulic upgrade, and that's just for the "lighter" dual disks.......and if you plan on hooking to a sled a DD is pretty much a must. For drag racing a single is alright, but don't expect to beat a truck with the same or even 100+ less horsepower.

Stock to Stock you really have to hammer a handshaker to get it to move out of it's own way vs the auto.

Tow light = 2500

Heck, even town heavy = 2500... Unless you tow all the time heavy, if so get a DRW. And if it's lots of tounge weight plus load in bed get a 3500.

Thanks for all the information guys!!

I've made my decision.

3500 quad cab, long bed, dually, auto trans, black on beige leather.
Why would you choose the 5.9 over the 6.7 ? If keeping the engine stock for now which one would be faster the 5.9 or 6.7 ? Also whats the difference between the st,slt, sport, and laramie ? What options do you think are a must for this truck.

Thanks again for all the help !!

The only way to get leather is with a Laramie. Or do what I did and have leather put in after.
