Name a tire you regret purchasing for your 2500/5.9 Cummins...
Name a tire/s you would avoid re-purchasing for your 2500/5.9 Cummins(!)
Looking for tires before snow flies and trying to weed through all the bias (no pun intended) sales pitches to see if there's room for improvement over my 2nd worn set of Bridgestone Dueler Revo Load E 265/70/17's?

Just a plain ole guy
BFG TKO's the worst crap I've ever seen. I got a set of 4 and 7 of them came apart. Yes. 7 On number 7 I went back to where I got them and demanded (nicely) all my $$$ ever spent on them refunded. After a check of the history and a couple calls without hesitation, our Discount Tire agreed. I went with Nitto's and they have been fine. Well one blew out but I hit a deer and it shoved the front bumper back into it. Not the fault of the tire. A bumper being shoved into it is usualy a valid reason for it to go to pieces.
At one time the factory agreed to replace 3 of the BFG's at one time. The first 4 all had the same build date and the 3 replacements at once all had the same dates. All of this happened withing 20k miles. They we're rotated and balanced by Discount every 3000 miles. They never once went off road.

Tires I wouldn't put on any truck ever again.
Stock Michelin, Avon ranger, nitto terra grappler, bfg all terrain, nitto trail grappler, cooper discoverer stt, and a couple other discontinued brands.
Tires I would buy again.
Nitto hd grappler, bfg mud terrain, Goodyear duratrac. I have had excellent experience with those three. Bfg was a bit tough to balance, but wore well. in that particular applicatio, they were hard to beat. Went to nitto and Goodyear for the 10 ply rating.

Sold them on craigslist and have used Toyo's ever since.

I won't run BFG's as well, to me, the sidewalls were not stiff enough for the weight of the Cummins. They always were spongy and seemed excessively flexible.
Didn't make 20K miles out of either set.
Good tires for a lighter vehicle though.

The shop I use services pre-runner chase vehicles. BFG supplied the new KO's 35-12.50-17 to a Duramax 3500 and ditto Dodge. GCLB's with steel flatbeds, toolboxes and two spares each. heavy trucks. I went for a ride and the trucks are all over the place. 1500 miles approx.on each set of tires. Formerly they ran Toyo MT's. Rock solid. The KO's are overwhelmed.
I use them on a 1/2 ton anytime.

Every tire will have plusses and minuses ($$ cost, wear duration, fuel economy, traction, noise, road handling, etc), and your satisfaction will largely be predicated on the particular performance area most important to you. But when it comes to a winter tire, I've tried many of the top rated brands and styles, but I've found the GY Duratrac to be the absolute best winter performer. Many MS tires are good in rain and snow, but Duratrac's are absolutely fantastic on ice - in my mind the most critical and difficult safety area. The design characteristics that make them great in snow and ice are unfortunately the elements that some people will complain about... they have a thinner sidewall and softer rubber, but these are design characteristics necessary to achieve snow and ice performance.

Goodyear Duratracs, too soft for medium and heavy towing. Makes the truck feel squirrelly and tears up the tread. Good winter traction though, probably better suited for a 1/2ton or SUV.
Best I had was Cooper Discoverer S/T, good combination of wear, handling and traction. When they were about half worn I had to tow with my old dually thru a bad snow storm and was quite impressed with the traction. They were horrible in mud though.

I wish Michelin would offer something other than pizza cutters for ours.
