MPG for thouse with truck CAPS, in town and highway
Hey Guys,

I am looking at getting a 2003 2500, quad cab, long-box, Laramie, with the high-output Cummins six-speed. I do cabinet making, and want to get a truck cap for my truck, but don't want to kill the milage. I have been told it will improve my milage by one or two miles a gallon. Is this true? If any of you have caps, what kind, model, and what milage are you getting? Does leer make any good caps for this truck model? I live in Canada, so recommend only ones I can get here in Canada. I am wanting to order vary soon, so if I could get replies ASAP, I would appreciate it. Thanks.

James
I haven't noticed any difference with it off or on. Actually I think our trucks have the aerodynamics of a proverbial brick. See my signature below. I'm really pleased with my Leer.

I had a big ARE cap put on, high wedge, I forget the model #. Between that and the swapover to winter fuel, I think I dropped 2 - 3 mpg. That and I just have to keep my foot in it!

Here is an interesting web site on this subject.

http://mars.wnec.edu/~ehaffner/did.htm

I would love to see this done as a comparison between the 4 X 4 and the 2 wheel drives. I think the 4 X 4 looses more from wind than weight!
Bryan
