Mopar molded mud flaps, where and how much?
I'm looking for the molded mud flaps for front and rear. Where did any of you find the best price at?
|
Picked up two pair at Geno's Garage. Try http://www.genosgarage.com/CoastalDa...ectGroup_ID=25 or http://tinyurl.com/r5d8j for details. I'm a happy customer.

Not that Genos isn't a good spot to get goodies....I bought mine at the dealer for the same price shipping included
|
I bought the molded Mopar mud guards from the local dealer. I think I paid $25 for both front and rear. Hate to say it (because I bought them from the dealer), but the price was right, and I'm happy with them so far.

They look nice, but before you put them on, I highly recommend some 3-M tape, as they may rub paint of at points of contact. If you drive gravel or have sand on roads, I personally do not recommend them, as they do not fully protect your rear fenders.

Call a few local dealers around you. They look nice and are better than nothing. You'll need more in rear if you're worried about what's in tow.

I bought front & rear flaps from the Dodge dealership. They have the RAM logo on them. The rear flaps are slightly bigger than the front flaps. I'm happy with them. I did upgrade to stainless steel fasteners in place of the plastic fasteners. Think I paid $78 for all four flaps.
I also have a gravel guard (NK) that fits on the hitch and hangs below the rear bumper. It has two 24"X24" flaps. This is to protect my TT. |
I put clear body tape under mine. you can get it from Cabela's for 20.00 a roll.
It is dead clear and you can trim it how you want AND it protects the flaps from rubbing your paint. I have the factory flaps and they do about a 75% job, but at least they look right proportionally with the truck. No hanging shower curtains on my truck please........ [coffee] |
You can also buy them on ebay for around 55 a set of 4. ;)

Thanks for the info guys. One of the members has a set he took of his truck, so i'll try them. I'm unfamiliar how they fasten. What are the plastic/stailess things some of you are talking about?
|
When you see the plastic molybolts, it will be obvious how you can upgrade them to small SS bolts and washers. Also, anytime you drill through the sheetmetal, it's a good idea to prime/paint the exposed metal to prevent rust.

I guess I'll be the first to say it, You may not like them in the long term. For the looks of them, not a bad looking flap. Functional, Maybe for someone that never drives in snow, gravel roads and doesn't keep their truck for any length of time. Both Dad and I had them install them on our trucks when new. Gravel roads and winter conditions take their toll on them. A good set of rubber composite guards are the way to go. They suit the truck a little better IMO

I ran across a guy that had to have his fenderwell openings repainted because of the molded flaps grinding-off the paint. He "highly recommended" that I not use molded flaps.
The clear tape idea makes good sense. Joe F.(Buffalo) |
