This thread is great, am going out this weekend and see about some new BFG's. Thanks to everyone on this thread for all the info.

I second the greatness of this site...I got my BFG's last week for $227 out the door(I did have cracking), and my buddy is getting his next week.

Called Michilin explained about the sidewall cracking that I had as well. They set up a case and said head to a Michilin dealer. Went to Sears first and they felt that the cracking was so minute that Michilin wouldn't take them. So headed on down to Discount Tire, after checking what their prices were for the stock tires ... wanted to get the most money for the tire credit.
Anyways, at first they were only going to credit me $388 for all four tires. The guy there explained that since they were OEM and not purchased from Discount that I wouldn't get full credit anywhere.
Back on the phone with Michilin, and they even called Discount Tire and explained that they cover everything 100% even the mount and balance.
Back to Discount Tire and the guy still only wants to give me $388 for the 4 tires. Argue some more and after he talks to his boss they give in and give me full credit for the tires, but not mount and balance. Was so frustrated at that point that I paid the $40 just to get the things on and be done with it. I will call Michilin again and get them to take up that issue with Discount at a later date.
However I walked out of the store with 4 new 285 BFG A/T's for about $200.

No rubbing issues at all with 285 on the 2wd??

I already got my new tires but, A friend of mine only has two of the four tires cracking. Do you think they will warranty all four? He only has a 1000 miles on the truck. Or should he wait tell all four crack.

I just got a local Michelin dealer to check out my tires.
They're replacing all 5 tires with BFG A/T.
Should be at the shop tomorrow.

I was afraid I'd run into a bad tire shop that would deny my claim.
But no problems.

4wheel parts did mine. did not get the full credit, but i did get 4 bfg 285/70/17 A/T with the mount, balance, stems and whatever other charges paid $470 guess its better that $900.

originally went to Sears, the saleswoman there was sort of giving me the run around saying that the cracks didnt look that bad. I guess sales clerks are tire experts overthere

4wheel parts just looked at it took a thread measurement and away we went.
