How bad is it? If it's minor it's pretty hard to get done. I know from experience. It took a heck of a fight to get mine done.

Man I just went to sears this afternoon and mine are being replace, with the high pressure valves. total out the door price on mine is going to be $29. I am pumped. I had 6100 miles on my truck and tires and let me tell you mine was very very minimal cracking but I will feel a lot safer riding on a new set of 285 bfg a/t. I dont think you would be able to see the cracking in a picture or I would post one. Sears and Michelin both were very helpful.

Went to discount tire this afternoon and found the cracking. Truck only has 9400 miles but guy said it would be $600.00 for four new 285bfg's. What to do? I would much rather only pay the $29.00.

That sucks! They told me $400 out the door! And that's for 285's. I had 13/32 on the front and 12/32 on the rear. Am I missing something? Should I go somewhere else?

I had 13/32 on the front and 12/32 on the rear. I would have only had to pay a percentage part for the rears but the lady didnt know how to put it in the computer. Plus it was sleeting outside and she said well it may have been 13/32 on the rear too and just put them down for 100% coverage. You may want to try going to sears to get a second opinion.

Well had it done at Discount for 200.00 OTD. I guess not to bad for 4 new tires that I wanted anyway. Sears did not have a person in the store that had a clue as to what I was talking about. Took them to the truck and everything. Thanks for the help saved me a lot of money.

Guys,
I looked at my tires and did not see any cracking. Is this a really noticable thing? Should I be there with a magnifying glass? Seriously.

I am a little nervous regarding this.

What does this cracking look like? Dry rot? Or does it go from the rim outward.

Guys,
My dealer told me Mich. would only pay 45%, which is not bad, but he had to ship the tires to Georgia for Michelin to inspect and then it may be 60 days before they tell him whether they will pay or not. What gives? Some of you guys make it sound like you went to sears and drove away with new tires etc.
Do I need to do something different?

Bob
