BFG is owned by Michelin. That's what I'm getting to replace mine. Yeah that runaround story sounds familiar. From what I hear it's a real pain for dealers to get reimbursed for the new tires they put on.

Sears said that it was hard to get reimbursed, But they still had no problem doing it.

At how many miles are most of these tires starting to crack? I have 5k on mine right now and after reading this I am wishing they would start soon.

Do you have any pics of how the 285's look? I am going to have to replace my stock tires soon and would like to see them.

Get your Michelin warranty card out of the glove box and call the number on there. They'll give you a list of dealers to go to and they make the call if it's good or bad. Mine weren't terrible, but with so few miles on them they would be.

ATTENTION!

When you replace the valve stems...order them from the dealer...they are a special steel high preasure stems!
I had tires replaced and the tire place put in regular valve stems...they WILL fail!
Luckily one of mine let go while at a camp site.
Another was on the verge of failing.
BTW..the dealer thought they were regular stems 'till I had him look up the part number and sure eneogh they were a special stem.
About 5 bucks each and I had to have all the stems replaced.
A few bucks....but a MUST do...check your stems and do the change if you have to...will save you many bucks and maybe your life.

I'll go to the parts department just before I get my tires done tomorrow. You may have saved me some headache. Thanks!

do you have any pics of what the cracked sidewalls looked like? I think I am having the same problem but do not want to bother with a trip to sears for nothing. Thanks.
