Like the title says, my truck has developed a loud rattle in the front end somewhere. It happens most when going 25-45 mph over small bumps and it is very noticeable when the windows are down. The weird part is, it doesn't happen if you're using the brakes. It doesn't matter if you're on them a lot or a little, it completely stops the rattle.

I've got about 81K miles on the truck if that helps. Any ideas you’ve got would really be a help because this one is really eating my lunch. I’ve been under the truck poking around trying to find something loose several times and haven’t found a thing! Thanks.

 

check all front end components-ball joints,tie rods, trac bar and axle u-joints- i recently had a clunk at load speeds-was an axle u-joint.

 

most likely u-joints. I had the noise happen to me a few weeks ago. Put your hand where the u-joints are on both sides and check for play and you will most likely see it really loose and metal hitting metal is the noise you most likely here.

 

Please note I am a 2WD so do I still have u-joints? I'm not very familiar with these chassis things unfortunately. Thanks!
