Lifting a 2004?
Aloha,
Im considering a lift kit for my 2004. Any recommendations on which ones? Pricing? Potential problem insights? Nothing too radical, 3 in would probably be fine. With the lift, are mud flaps and fender flares recommended for protection? Both? or will one suffice?
Ordered the 315's...just waiting on the boat to ship my truck and Fed Ex to ship the tires. Cant wait!!
Mahalos in advance,
Mike

Msurf, I would recommend a 2" leveling kit for the front end. This will give you a perfect look with the 315's and no rub. The kit will cost about $130. You can use your stock shocks and don't need to change other suspension components. If you want more lift you are gonna start getting into a lot more money. Tuff Country sells a 4.5"/6" lift kit. You can check out photos of a lifted truck here. http://www.tuffcountry.com/suspension_dodge2003.html It looks like this truck may be running 37's. I have 315's and the 2" kit up front. I have not had a need for flaps or flares...Mike
I was watching speed channel last night and there was a program on about installing a 4" lift kit on a 2003 (or 2004) Dodge Ram 2500 4 x 4 with a Cummins. 315's were added at the end of the conversion. Actually, the lift was 4" in the front and 2" in the rear (I think) to create a "level" look after the lift. The kit was complete with suspension parts to maintain steering geometry and extended bump stops to ensure wheel travel is controlled. The front kit had new shocks and springs, etc. The rear was relatively simple with lift blocks, new U bolts and bump stop extenders.
I can't find the name of the program (I think the product was "speedlift"??). After the show, there was a segment on offroading in mud, sand, hills, etc - somewhere in MN?? Maybe someone else saw the show.
Anyway, it looked like a quality product.

Yea, I think I saw that show a while back. It was on Trucks!...I looked at thier website and could not find a reference to it. Perhaps the leveling kit is the way to go as the pitures of Mike67RS's truck look like it has plenty of lift stock. I am concerned about rubbing when travelling offroad down rocky lava trails. Thanks for the input!
