Talking just ordered an 05, great deal

My wife fianally decided it was time to get out of her Mustang GT, and step into a CTD. I spent all Sat. getting jerked around by my local California Dodge dealers. Hey what do you have to do to get a decent deal on anything in this state After a day of abuse, I got ticked off and went home empty handed. I was talking to my wife and she reminded me of a Dodge Dealer in Kellog, Idaho.(we just recently moved back to CA from N. Idaho.) The Dealers name is Dave Smith Motors. I dont know if this dealership has been discussed in the past, as I am fairly new to this site. I gave them a call and within 10 minutes I not only ordered my truck the way I want it but I got a better price than expected. They move All new CTD's for roughly $200.00 over invoice, with out a fight. After all the rebates I'm saving roughly 10 to12K off sticker price, with no arguing. To top it off they are covering up to $250.00 of my airfare, and will have a shuttle waiting for me at the airport to take me to the Dealership. Now I know I have to drive 1000 miles to get home, but I think its worth it. If any of you guys are going to be buying new I would highly recomend checking these guys out.

Even though the engine is 50 state legal it has to be certified for CA, or so I have read. Be sure there won't be any registering hassles. FWIW I have heard good things about Dave Smith.

If I't doesn't work out the dealer I bought from in Daly City CA (near SF) will sell for 300 under invoice, you keep any rebates. Absolutly no hassle. PM me if you need more info.

Otherwise enjoy the new truck.

CASMOKIN,

I'm from kalifornia also and bought outta state (Hickory,N.C. Steve White Motors :Jeff Hogan) they not only paid my fglight and picked me up @ airport but filled my tank and put me up in hotel across street. No where in CA could I find this great of a deal. MSRP subtract $300 then subtract dealer cash then take off half usually given to salesmen. and there you have it a heck of a price

I also got my truck from Steve White Dodge in Hickory, NC. Great people to deal with, although I got a better price than you guys listed. Mightynorseman - maybe you have your terminology messed up. CASMOKIN - $200 over invoice isn't that awesome, no offense. Several people, including myself, bought for straight invoice price MINUS incentives. I actually paid invoice price minus incentives minus half of the dealer's holdback (3% of msrp). Don't forget about that $500 farm bureau bonus boys! Either way, congrats CAsmokin on joining the clan. Pretty soon you'll have Cummins-itus, and will compulsively read, discuss, and spend money on your Cummins

I got mine for invoice minus rebates (including farm bureau) and got them to split the cost of my chrome step tubes and molded splashguards. But it also took me about 4 hours at the dealership to get everything done.

it ended up being about 10K off the sticker price.

I bought mine at lithia dodge in Grapevine, Texas, I got about 7500 off with hardly any haggling. I know I got bent over and jerked around but this was my first new vehicle purchase. I'll know better next time.

You got a great deal cause it was a black truck! Who would want it?

In my experience buy cars in California, the only way to have any hope of a good deal is not to walk into the dealer when 'looking' for the truck you want.

I went through the fleet manager. I got my foot in his door by building the truck I wanted on a couple web sites (dodge, carsdirect and a few others). All of my requests went to different dealers, In the end I went with the one that responded to my emails in a timely fashon and appeared to be working the hardest to find the truck I wanted.

I got my truck for below invoice (not sure the exact amount below) minus 3500 in rebates and a free bedliner. I figure you can find better deals in other states, but don't forget you have to drive home wich is both fuel and your time spent driving it back.

They've also been friendly when I went in for the fuel economy TSB.

If you want the name and number to the dealer I went to, send me a PM.

ummm.....me?

There's only a couple of colors of these trucks I like....When it's cleaned up it's as sharp as they come. Unfortunately it's salt season so clean doesn't happen much.

They had a graphite one on the lot with a couple more options on it, and I coulda gotten it a little cheaper than the one I ended up with, which they had to dealer trade for.

I've been to Dave Smith Dodge in Kellog. He is the No 1 dodge truck dealer in the US. He has a ton of trucks. They sell all dodge vehicles for about $187.00 over invoice. Pretty good deal but I think you can find them cheaper. Paid Invoice for mine but had to order it. Didn't mind the wait though......I don't see the benifit traveling accross the country to save a few hundred bucks. Still have to drive it back home at $2.25 a gallon..

CASMOKIN,

Was wondering who you delt with at Dave Smith Motors. My 6spd dually is due to arrive there within the week. I already have my flight set up for after x-mas. Even though I'm getting an excellant deal with all the great incentives 3500 below invoice, a free plane ticket would be iceing on the cake. Thanks for any help.

All these deals sound good.,but no one ever mentions trade-in. I went to my local dodge dealer and to my surprise he had the exact truck I wanted,3500,auto,dual wheels,4x4,auto,373,quad-cab,white,tow mirrors, power seat, tow hooks etc, list 43,800
purchase price invoice minus rebates. Then he dropped the hammer on me ,my 03 ,3500,4x4,ctd,srw,6sp,slt,short bed, loaded, with 143,000 miles, had an average trade in value of 16k,he finally gave me 18k ,to make the deal.He said that when the dodge ctd goes over 100,000 miles,or out of warranty the value drops 50% on the truck, now if it takes you 5 years to reach 100k miles thats ok,but if you do it in a year or two it really hurts. The depreciation, for high mileage on the dodge ctd is the same as for a car. The good thing is the dodge ctd bottoms out at about 10k regardless of mileage or age,so long as its in good condition.

not a bad price.. I paid $1000 below dealer invoice, plus 3500 in incentives, bringing the truck with a 46k sticker price to about 33.5k out the door...

Spoke with my guy @ Dave Smith Motors, spoke to him regarding incentives and airfare. My truck is special order so at this time 2k back of invoice on 05 but instock you can get 3500 off invoice plus the $250 towards airfare. He is going to see what he can do for me on DSM incentives because when we ordered it there were another 1000 from DSM. Still better than my local dealer, which my sister inlaw works for.
