I think I found a pretty good deal- a 2005 5.9L dually with only 40K miles on it. Southern (VA) truck, no rust minus a little on the rear diff cover, no dents and only a few minor interior issues. I'm taking it to my local mechanic soon for a full fluids change and greasing. What are some potential problems I should tell him to look for?

The engines had an issue with the #4 fuel line cracking but I'm not quite sure if it extended into the '05s. If it were cracked, you would know it as diesel goes everywhere. If it hasn't been replaced in the past, it may be worth installing a new one so you don't get stranded somewhere. Cheap insurance.

Another issue is HVAC system's Mode and Blend doors. If you can control the air temp, and from which vents the air comes from, you don't have an issue yet. If you can't, look up HeaterTreater.

It was '05 or '06 when the radiator or intercooler ends were plastic and were prone to crack. (I'm suffering from CRS this morning, sorry)
