The 07 drove away last night with a new owner.
I just couldn't justify a truck payment anymore, when I'm not working.

I'm picking up my new to me truck today. It's an 01 f250 longbed crew cab lariat 4x4 with 72k miles. It's not a cummins, but these 7.3 motors with low miles are almost just as good. (I'm going to say the second best diesel engine you can own).

No truck payments is something to brag about, and It felt good to pay the loan off.

I hear ya about the loan,mines 4 months from being paid for and can't wait for the last payment. I bought a 7.3 ex and everyone is surprised you can keep a vehicle reliable after a 100 k idiots I tell ya.

good choice, i had a '95 ps.... had over 200,000 when i sold it to my daughter, she sold it 2 years later for more than she paid

I remember those dayz when my baby left me with a new owner but im happy now cause i got my job back and got me a newer and better truck with all the bells and whistles. I hope your experience will be the same

The old saying when one door close, another opens...its tough letting go of a good thing. You did replace it with a decent one though.

On another note about the Fords. I have a friend that has a 350 dually 6.0 and it just turned 800,000 kilometers or 1/2 million miles. Runs an Edge Juice on it everything else is stock and most of that is original. RARE.

I had a '96 F-350 with the 7.3 PS. It was a great truck. Not a Cummins, not even really close to a Cummins, but much better than Ford's later offerings. My dad still runs a 7.3 Ford and he's been very happy with it.

No truck payments = freedom. I don't blame you for getting rid of it. Mine is paid off. No more car payments.

Got her home last night, drove 10 hrs straight without shutting the motor off. Hand calced 17.5 mpg at 75mph running I-5 portland to redding. Then slowed her down to 65-70 mph hwy 89 to susanville and then hwy 395 to home.
30 miles south of portland, I was smiling ear to ear as the truck drove like new, no wandering on the road, all the power options work, cruise control works, made sure the A/C works.
Not a scratch or dent on the exterior, no kincks in the bed caps, always stored in a garage. The truck is truly one of those stories where you find an older fella who pampered it. I got a folder full of service records all performed at the ford dealer, 80% tread on toyo AT tires.

Brought him a pocket full of $100 bills, and I think he was in tears when I drove off.

Glad to hear about your new ride, the later 7.3 were good motors. Having no payments is an awesome feeling and a smart move. I know the feeling of selling a good ride. I sold my klx650a2 that I put on the street. AWESOME bike, high compression piston, hot cams, shaved head, open pipe, port and polish. Started first kick almost every time. Had a tear in my eye when I helped load her into a friends truck. She went a good home though...

I was in about the same boat as you but the other way around. I watched my 2000 Ford, 3500, 7.3 Dually drive off about 4 years ago. It only had 100,000 on the clock and drove great. The MPG was good empty or pulling. I know have whats in my sig. and owe 7 payments, YES!

I talked my friend into special ordering a 2000 F-250 4wd 7.3. It's been very dependable although pampered it's whole life. Rarely offroaded and never towed. Aside from the block and a half it takes to turn the sucker around,he's had good luck.

Well all the best luck to ya and hopefully one day you get another cummins or make it a fummins if something ever happens to the engine.:D

Loving the new rig, it's a very comfortable truck!
It drives great, has plenty of power while rippin around empty, but hook a trailer up to it, and I miss my 5.9L.
The tranny is tight, but seems ancient as the shift points seem to be too far apart, (I only notice this while towing).
I'll throw a few mild perf upgrades at it and get it towing right. It does take a 3 point to turn it around. All in all I love the truck, and love the no truck payment even more.

I had a Hypertech PP3 (programmer) on my 7.3. It was very mild by comparison with other chips, programmers, etc. With that programmer installed, my Ford pulled my trailer just about the same as my bone stock CTD. Plus the PP3 lets you adjust the shifting on the Ford as well.
