Ignition switch problem

Can I just replace the mechanical part of my ignition switch without having to replace my current key and FOB? They are not cheap to replace.

Been having a problem with key not shutting off acc power when I remove it. If I wiggle it around I can get it to shut off most of the time. But the other day I couldn't get it to shut off with the key removed. Radio power stays on and the beeper goes off until I close the door. I can shut the radio off manually but the power door locks won't work because the truck computer still thinks I have left the key in the ignition. So I have to manually lock the doors. Next time I used the truck I was able to wiggle it to turn off the acc power. But I figure it is just a matter of time before it gets worse and maybe even gets to the stage where i have problems starting or shutting off the engine.

Though maybe replacing the mechanical end of the ignition might fix it. Any one had this problem or know of a fix?

Yes, the mechanical part of the switch is what you want to replace. They have had noted issues over the years from time to time. Notorious for blower motor not working issues.

Thanks Spooler,
Anyone know if I have to replace the key and FOB if I change out the mechanical switch??
