stock 03, I dont think we have real bad humidity here. I am real close to the Rocky Mountains, and quite north. In the summer we will get into the 80's but that is about it. But as you said, it will freeze, stop for awhile and it works great again

Yes! it could be possible, the only problem with my truck's ac is the blend door seems to get stuck at times or I suspect that's the culprit. As far as blowing cold air I have no complaints at all so far (knock on wood and all that jazz). AC problems can deal some real headaches at times and be a long drawn out problem at times, that's why I ask if they checked it out for leaks or just maybe simply slapped the gauges on and determined yeah! you was a little low on freon,we charged it, got it cooling, and now your good to go, but you said it's not working now again after they worked on it.Take it back to them and get them to fix it. It took me three times to the dealership for them to finally hear and determine I had a injector knocking, they replaced #2 injector and it's been fine now for last 17K miles, third time was a charm.

dont know the part number or even what part they said was bad
I just know that I know nothing about how AC works and therefore dont know how to fix it myself
could probably figure it out in time but thats something I dont have enough of

I am sooooo happy and feel sooooo much better that the ozone hole won't kill us 'cuz now we have wonderfull R134 that don't cool worth a darn instead of that evil R12 that froze our butts off in our trucks and put that hole in the ozone layer that is probably causing global warming, blah, blah, blah.

I tried my ac out for the first time yesterday and I was quite impressed..At first I was shocked because it wasnt cooling at all...then I noticed I had not pressed the snowflake button. Once I punched that, within a minute I was down to 49 degress at 70 degrees ambient and 30% humidity. We'll see how it works at 105 this summer.

My '06 is going in Mon. for the blower fan to be replaced @ 16K mi. I had the blend door replaced @12,5K mi. I did not explain to the tech what was happening except for 'A/C is doing something I've never heard before'. He said' when you put it on high, does it vibrate & moan' & I said'Yep'. He said 'It's a POOR design & we get them in here all the time for it'.

My 03 was in the dealer today for the exact same thing and was told $780. I am taking it to my AC guy now that I let the dealer diagnose the problem,,,F- the $700 dealer labor charge.

The fin temp sensorhas to be relocated to a differant section of the evaportor.Have not seen or read to what section. How many fins over and down etc.The replacement evaporators its already located to the differant section. On 03/04 its not just replacing the part with a new one. When mine was done the tech had to call STAR for the new location.
