Bringing this thread back to life somewhat, my blend door actuator has quit working again. While my 2003 truck was still in the 36K bumper to bumper warranty at 23980 miles 12/14/04 I had the TSB 24-004-03 done or at least I figure that was the TSB they did, they had to pull the dash apart just to replace this simple little part in the HVAC system, they list parts on the invoice I have as 5073963AA-Door,4885206AB-Actuator-Recirculation,5019632AA Coupling-Air Conditioning.Dealership had the truck a couple days with dash apart waiting on the parts to come in. Just here recently, a few days ago, the only air I receive is from the front vents only, no floor air or defrost air or you can just barely feel it coming out. I was just wondering if I had a leg to stand on for the dealership to fix it again since they had to repair it before. At the time they told me it was a better part they was repairing it with. Truck now has 47K on the odometer.

Well now I am confused a little not knowing for sure if the acuator blend door is actually about to break or maybe just got stuck or what from my above post. I went out his afternoon cranked up the truck and just after is started up I hear this slight thump sound in the dash. I tried the floor setting on the selector **** and now have real stong air coming from floor vent also switched it to defrost setting and it changed over no problem and I was getting real strong air from defrost vents and none from floor like it is suppose to work, before air would only come out the front vents only. I always turn my fan selector **** to "off" position before I choose what setting I want weather it be floor, defrost, front vents,or some where in between because I've heard it is easier on the selector system to change over to desired setting if it doesn't have the fan air blowing, weather this is true or not I don't know but I do it. Could my problem possibly be with in the selector **** switch maybe a slight short at times. This has been aggervating here lately because as some one else posted you do need the defrost at times to remove the fog on the windows like when it's raining or in icing up conditions. Also I like the heat coming from the floor vent 95% of the time myself.

With my truck, if it is hot it seems to freeze up while i am driving and blow hot air. If I stop for awhile and let it unfreeze it works perfect again for awhile. I brought it into the dealership and they topped up the freon, said that should fix it. It didnt. Now what?

Did they check for a leak, could possibly be a real small one somewhere. Did they run the dye solution through the system or just use a sniffer. I'll bet your freon is low again. Sometimes those real small leaks can be hard to find and if they are small enough that it takes awhile to leak out they may go the easy route and just top off the system and say your good to go. JMO

I had a recirc door break. That was fixed and now the blower cycles when it's on level 4. It will blow hard then cycle down and come back up.

My '06 Mega does not cool well.

I haven't used the A/C since last summer but I brought it in to the dealer and they said everything was "normal".

Would love to get better cooling ability.

I thought that they checked for leaks. I talked to a freind of mine who is a refridgeration mech, and he said that it might be a limit switch?? Does that sound possible

LOL....

I am also a fortunate one I guess (knock on wood ) as my A/C has been great. Even here in the Desert it cools down nice and stays cool. I just need to get off my butt and get the front windows tinted.

How high is the humidity where you live?

I had the same thing happen to me. It happened while driving through Texas. The humidity was high, and while on the road, the passenger side stopped blowing...then the driver's side...then no air from any vents!

The dash was cold to the touch, and the blower was working, However, it sounded like the air was trapped inside the dash. After we stopped for about an hour, there was a whole lot of water under the truck. I was guessing it was the condenser thawing out??? It started working, and then froze again.

I took it into the dealer when I returned, and was toldthe system was A-OK. They also topped off the freon. So far no more issues, but I haven't been to Texas since. I'll be going this summer, and I bet it does the same thing.

Bad A/C design?
