if you have or had ac issues please read!!!

I have an 03 model that has been in the dodge shop 4 times for these same ac issues we all read over and over. First time they only recharged unit at 28k and said nothing else wrong. Second time blend door and evaporator replaced at 35k. Third time compressor replaced at 39k. Fourth time blend door again at 40k. They actually covered compressor at 39k with no problems. Fourth time they wanted to charge me for the blend door. The dealer did charge me but I will say dc reimbursed me. Anyway, these issues seem to be ongoing with many of us and dc doesn't want to stand behind these poorly designed ac units. I think we all need to document our issues and put our heads together on this. I know I am going to have more issues with this since all they seem to do is throw the same pitiful parts at this unit. There is strength in numbers. If enough of us raise trouble with dc over this I believe we can get them to fix the problem or atleast cover this issue for longer than 36k. Please email me. Maybe we can figure a way to document all these issues we have had. It may actually take hiring a lawyer over this one.

My concern is the 36k coverage. My truck is 2mo old w/8k already....my warranty will be up in less than 1 yr....however my A/C works pretty well, tho(knock on wood ) the fan is very loud and very weak, after 10 mins on the hwy it cools off pretty well.....I know I'm one of the lucky ones.

Looking on this website I have not seen as many issues with the 05 and 06 trucks. Mine is working good as of now too but I feel like it will give me trouble by next summer. I guess time will tell.

Working at a Dodge Dealership for nearly a year, the new megacab has had some issues with the ducting going to the rear a/c vents causing a drop in blower speed. We had quite a few come into the dealership when I was there....

Seems a LOT of ALL years with poor cooling and poor pass side cooling.I called D.C. a week ago or so TWICE and asked that a FILE be opened and NOT sent to the dealer as its a BIGGER issue then what is expected for the dealer to handle.Big thread alreaduy going on with this AC deal.Call 1-800-992-1997 and tell them to open a file and read the ongoing thread on this site.I did.

Thumbs down

06 going in on the 14th, doesn't blow cold, and now the fan is making funny noises whenver you turn it on. What a joke. This is one of the few issues with this truck, it starts less than 50% on the first try, cold or warm, and when it does start cold it blows a huge cloud of white smoke. The driver side door sounds like it's gonna fall off whenever you hit a rough spot in the road, the passenger side mirror fell off in my wifes lap last week on a road trip, and the dash has never ending rattles/squeeks. This thing better get straightened out in a hurry. Very frustrating for a 40k truck that only has 13k on it.

safety issue

"TSMAY51"..i saw a post with an website that dealt with this issue..
he said all we need to do is prove there is a safety issue with this..

so i think while driving and it starts to rain all of a sudden, and your blend door doesnt do its job and defrost the windshield...you are driving blind until the weak defroster defrosts the windshield..or i could pull over and take a chance on getting rear-ended by another fogged up ctd owner...

i will look for the website/post..

hope we can figure it out..
otherwise i bought the service manual from geno's.. to do it myself when i get home from iraq..meanwhile my wife is driving around blind when it rains..better than driving drunk??huh??

Same issues with my truck. Same issue with the DC run around. Problem is they have very little care for those of the 03 year.

My '03 has only been to the dealer once for the fin temp sensor relocation, everything else is original. I guess I am one of the lucky ones also. I wonder if there isn't an issue with the R&R procedure causing them to break?

Recirculation doors have been breaking (04-06)......LOTS of them. There is now an updated part number that requires a new lower HVAC housing be installed.....and as of today they are on bigtime back order.

I have a broken recirculation door on my 2006 Dodge. Dealer has ordered a new "Fresh Air Door" to fix problem under warranty. Does the updated part number for the lower HVAC housing apply to my repair? Is this new part number the same as TSB 24-004-03 done on 2003 trucks? Can you give me the new part number?
Hal

Red face

My biggest problem, since its been near 100* for several weeks now, is the temperature of the dash. It has to be 135* and it stays really hot for quite a while. Thats where the majority of the residual heat is coming from. My A/C blows cold, its just the heat coming from the dash area thats making it hard to cool down. I have been thinking about a dash mat or something to try and keep it a bit cooler.
