I finally replaced my batteries.
The batteries in my 2005 with 170000 miles finally gave it up. For the last 3 years I started the winter with the intention of changing them, but they just kept going.
I replaced them with Duralast Golds because of the discount I get through work. I hope I get even half the life from them that I got from the originals.

I just replaced the OEM batteries in my 04. Got the good out of those jewels. I didn't know how weak they were until the new ones went in. I went with the Duracells. I hope I don't regret it.

I also went with the Auto Zone Batteries. They have failed at the 24 to 29- month range. I drive my Cummins about 2K a year and will not continue with the Duralast. Three sets of Batteries in six years.

Deka/East Penn Manufacturing make EXCELLENT batteries domestically.
They have been and still are oem battery supplier for CAT equipment, so you know they always need to start!!! Also, if you can find CAT batteries at an equipment dealer near you, they are one and the same from Deka. I have recently heard that the CAT group 65 is on sale at their dealers for $110 each until 12/1/15, then back up.
I am running Deka batteries in my dozer that are 12 years old (knock wood. LOL)

At almost 10 years, you have certainly gotten your $$ worth out of the oem batteries...You could try pointing out to her that they might die halfway to her mothers house on the way over for Christmas dinner. LOL

I got 9 yrs. out of my OEMs and they did not die, but I didn't want to take a chance, so I bought new OEM batteries. Using aftermarket batteries can be a crapshoot and OEM was only 30% more installed.

I would imagine OEM sources change year to year.
I got the Sears Platinums a couple of years ago on sale but my OEM's are still powering a 12v to this day.

Batts
reviving an old thread, I replaced my OEM batteries this year. 05 to 17, twelve years, I think I got may monies worth. Changed them in September with NAPA 'Legend' AGM batts. Made in USA east Penn.
These really twist that starter now. Never lost power, replaced one at a time. Such a nice truck.
I figured it would be good before winter. Would need them before going to Alaska next year.
I need headlights now.
