How to disconnect A/C lines

I am trying to replace my air dryer. Anyways, how do I disconnect the a/c lines? Gave it a mighty tug and no luck. Is there a special tool for this?

Thanks

Just one vendor. Any auto parts store will have them. Slip the one that fits the male side of the line, over the line, thru the split, then slide it into the fitting. There is a spring inside the at end of the lines. By slipping the tool inside the joint, your preventing it from gripping the line side that is inserted into it. You can do the same thing by cutting a piece of plastic milk jug, wrapping the male side of the line that is going into the female side, then slip that plastic into the joint. it will slide between the spring and them male line and allow it to slip out.

Once you get one apart you'll see and go oh yea [duhhh] that was easy. Don't over complicate it. It really is easy.

Make sure all the refrigerant pressure is out or else it will be complicated and dangerous.

^^^^^ This ^^^^^

Or your next post might start something like this.... "Well I'm here at the ER waiting to see the doctor for..... " [dummy]

"frostbite" is the condition. Hit the line with a little penetrating oil, and try to push the line together rather than apart at first. They are really hateful some days.

The last two I've disconnected were extremely adament in staying together....took quite a bit of persuasion to seperate them.....never really thought about the penetrating oil [duhhh]. Will have to keep that tidbit of info in the back of my mind for the next one.
