buddy is looking for a truck, and he doesn't need a CTD.

wants 4 doors, wife wants leather & heated seats.
they really want a Mega, but rumors are that Gas Mega's are terrible on gas, are they?

we found a 2008 Quad Cab that has a reasonable price,

the MPG is listed as 12mpg, is that real world?

Engine: 5.7L 8 cyl HEMI
Body Style: Pickup
Cylinders: 8
Doors: 4
Fuel Type: Gasoline
Vehicle Type: TRUCK
Mileage: 35,693

City (MPG)
12
Hwy (MPG)
16*

Actual Mileage will vary

Dodge trucks are pigs. Always have been, probably always will be. It'll get 12mpg on a good day. Most of the time expect 10.

My son has a 03 2500 4x4 QC SB hemi, gets 12 city and 17 hwy, empty, light foot. The new 1500's should get better with MDS. lower and lighter.

My former truck, 06 1500 QCSB 4x4 HEMI - 4'' lift and 315's got 10-12 around town and up to 17 on the freeway doing 70. Performance wise all I had was a K&N intake and Magnaflow dual exhaust

Same truck I had, without the lift. I was running 285's with a leveling kit.

Used to see 13-14 around town. 15-16 on the highway. It was straight piped and my right foot didnt help.

I don't believe the 2500 has any other option other than the Hemi or the CTD.. if you're ok with a 1500, they offer a v6 in the regular cab, and the 4.7l v8 in the quadcab...

my former truck had the 4.7l, and it was a fine truck/motor combination.. I averaged about 14mpg in mixed driving... compared to 20mpg in my CTD.

there's a myth about 'an ancient chinese secret' of moving the plug wires so that it fires both plugs on the combustion cycle, i assume the coils have two plug terminals?

something about "it fired the coil on the exhaust cycle to make it burn cleaner"

anyone ever hear of that?

Took a 1500 with the 4.7 6speed for a ride. I believe the mileage was listed as 12-15. It was a real dog as well had trouble getting out of its own way!

The 4.7 may net you worse mileage than the hemi , plus it will be more of a dog. I have a Chevy 2x4 regular cab commuter truck with a 5.3, my buddy has the same truck with the 4.8, with similar commutes and driving habits I consistently get 3-4 mpg better than he does, even though I've got 3:73's and he's got the "better on gas" 3:42's.
