Hot spot under passenger footwell? (ST owners??)
Hey guys, bought the 2006 in my sig last week and pulled the trailer up in the hills to go camping for the 4th. Wife was complaining that her feet were really hot, AC was keeping the rest of the cab cool though. I didn't pay much attention till she showed me the melted bag of peanut M&Ms she had down there :o (I guess they melt in your mouth and on the floor of your truck). I looked underneath, and yes- that's right were the exhaust goes by. I can't recall on my other trucks, but is there a heat shield that's supposed to be there and it's missing? Or is an ST problem with the vinyl floors? Maybe carpet is more thermally isolating, I dunno....any ideas?

there is supposed to be a heat insulating pad secured to the bottom of the cab over the exhaust.

called silencer pad #12

Thanks for the pict! Yeah, that's what it looks like. But, just like in the drawing the blanket stops where the tunnel meets the floorboard and doesn't extend out over the exhaust. The centerline of the exhaust on my truck runs just barely to the outside of that blanket. There's nothing between about 1/2 of the diameter of the exhaust and the floorpan except about 1" of air. We hoping it was missing a shield Might have to make one.

Maybe your CAT is clogged and is heating up....
