Horn Relay/Fuse
Horn Relay/Fuse
I attempted to install an aftermarket horn and did not wire to the battery and use a relay to activate the horn. I used the wires from the horn and tied them directly into the aftermarket horn. Now my horns will only provide a very short chirp. I have disconnected the aftermarket horn and will rewire when I get my horn problem figured out. Any suggestions would be helpful.
Yes. I did the same exact thing and wondered why their instructions are so complicated when it could be so easy to hook up. You cannot just use the horn connections because these horns need more power. You MUST use the relay and hook it directly to the battery. Your horn will work fine then. You will also be happy to know that if your truck honks when you hit the lock button on your keyfob that it is not super loud even with these louder horns. In fact mine is now less loud when I hit the lock button. The horns are very loud when you hit the horn button though. Here's a link to my horn when I had it in my 08 truck. I now have these in my 04.....

And another link where I added one more of the airhorns to my setup. It's called the Old Grand Dad setup. Not anything like real train horns but louder and better sounding than the stock horn....
