Hood with scoop, For a diesel??

Can anyone tell me if you can order a hood with the scoop from the factory for the Diesel, like the one on certain Hemi trucks or the SRT-10?? I think thats a great looking hood, and was wondering if theres a way to get it for the Diesel. I know it goes for like over $300 bucks, and I would prob. have to have it painted, and installed. Not worth my time if the factory or dealer can have it on my truck when I pick it up. Thanks for any info.

I am not sure if it comes as an option from the dealer. It probably is not a stock option. However some dealers will do custom options if they are making out. Otherwise you can find the Rumble Bee Scoop on Ebay as well as the whole SRT-10 Hood.

This is a mod I want to do but I will have to wait till I have a little more "Mad" cash.

I found there must be people out there changing there hoods to something differant.Because I have found hoods on ebay for 50 bucks the same color as my truck.I thought about buying one in case it ever hails on it.

Yes, you can order both the Rumble bee and the SRT-10 hood from the dealer. I believe the Rumble bee hood comes painted in certain colors. The SRT hood comes in primer and needs to be painted to match. If I remember correctly, the Rumble bee scoop is about $400. When I bought the SRT hood I paid just over $700, that price includes the scoop insert that I have heard comes separate.

The Rumble Bee hood is actually just a bolt on scoop attachment. It's non-functional and you just bolt it onto your existing hood, smooth and paint to match. The SRT-10 hood is actually functional - though it just vents air over the engine rather than into it. I think it's around $600 from the dealer, then you have to get it painted and mounted. I'm figuring it'll cost me around $1K when it's all said and done. Which is why I haven't done it yet! :D

And for that price... I'd rather get something else that a lot of other people don't have already.

I talked to 2 different dealers, One was in N.C. and he said, it would be no probelm to get a non-functioning SRT hood, and have it on the truck at time of delivery, and he also said, pretty much whatever I wanted in or on my truck, he could do. The other dealer was in Ohio, and told me I couldn't get the hood. I have been going back and forth between the two dealers cause the one who said He couldn't get the hood gave me an offer of 3 grand more for my trade in. Its gonna be a battle back and forth till I get the right price for the right options. I also found out I can get a 2500 CTD in solar yellow, hmmmmmm.................

Any chance of getting all those extra goodies the one dealer will offer for free? I say get 3G worth of goodies and call it good. :)

If you are not in a hurry, you could check with AAR Fiberglass in Cocoa, FL to see if they have any plans to make replacement hoods for the new Rams. They have a few scoop options for Dakotas and older Rams. Or you could pick a bolt-on scoop and make it functional.

Older Ram truck hoods from AAR.

For something a little bit different, how about a Shaker like Scotty did? I can't get a pic to appear here, so here's a link:

I will be testing this application with forward inlets next week. Still waiting for the bumpers.
I also have to refit the belly pan for twin applications.

I put a Keystone Functional Ram Air on Ghost Rider! Lots of dealers can get this hood, paint and install it for you.

Big Bob

As many times as I've seen your truck I never paid any attention to the hood.
Heck, I even knew you had it too. Looks great buddy!! :)

Do hood scoops like Big Bobs do much for cooling of the engine compartment? I'm running a bit warm due to lack of air flow from my after market bumper blocking part of the radiator. I am looking for a solution besides cutting razor holes in my bumper[yuk]

check out (browns-of-tworivers.com) they have a ram air and I believe a cowl hood too. And alot cheaper than the prices I have seen from others in this thread.. check them out they have quality stuff at dirt cheap prices.
