help w/ brake controller

I bought a prodigy tekonsha brake controller along with the 3 foot pigtail harness. Everything is supposed to be plug and play. When I hooked up to the trailer, the only thing that works are the running lights all around on the trailer, left blinker and left brake light. The right blinker does not work and the right brake light does not work. When I try to pull the trailer the brakes on the trailer lock and do not unlock until I pull the cord from the bumper. The brake controller display also says n.c. for not connected when it should be connected. I have to pull a big trailer thursday and I need this to work. Any suggestions on where to look on the wiring? What to test? A man on another forum said I should switch my blue and black wire. I called a shop and they wanted $75 an hour to troubleshoot.

This is a company trailer and has been used by multiple trucks without any problems so I know the problem is with my truck. Here is a picture of the prodigy harness plugging into the factory four prong connector. Any help is appreciated.

The factory wiring should have what each wire is labeled on it. Make sure they are matching up to what is labled on the controlers wires. Also make sure the you don't have the factor connector on back wards. It will go on backwards even though keyed.

oh man I'm gonna feel pretty dumb if it was on backwards but I doubt that it is. I has to press the button down in order to release the wiring harnesses from each other. I'm will make sure I'm not doing this though when I go out at lunch time.

I just checked and my plug is keyed. I won't go in backwards. I tried. I'm gonna replace fuse 1 and 19 after work today. See what happens

anybody you know around you that has a truck with a brake controller???? i would test with another truck first. but those wires dont look right to me. i never had a problem on my 03 or 04 truck , everything was plug and play. i ran same brake controller as you on my 03.i would try switching trucks, cause i used an enclosed trailer once, and it was set up by the trailer place for his ford, and when i hooked mine up they had some stuff wrong and wouldn't work on my truck, but i had 2 other trailers that i used all the time that worked fine. just a thought.

sounds like your trailer isn't wired to match your truck. I just had to rewire my trailer to the plug on this truck

The pigtail wiring harness that comes with the Prodigy is not Plug-n-Play. There should have been instructions on how to tie in. There is an optional Dodge Ram Plug-n-Play harness that you can get that just plugs into the OEM connector. Cheap enough and simple then.

Once you are sure that the pigtail is hooked up correctly I would have to agree with hector.

Had one trailer that was all messed up. In fact the turn signal would activate the trailer brakes....

Was something like this, flick turn signal.... screech! screech! screech! screech!

You can check for accuracy at the plug on the bumper with a test light and this diagram... assuming you have a seven wire. Plug Diagram

Connected a trailer once to a truck.. When I turned the head lights on the trailer brakes slid the tires.... Re wired the trailer correctly & the trailer brakes worked correctly
