Wow, tough decision,,, I'm partial to the 5.9 myself,,, good buy I'd say at that price and miles,,,,, but, and this is a big BUTT, (about Michelle's size), if your gonna be pulling a lot, I'd say the 09' would be my go to. My .03

I'd shoot for the 2009. In 09' they improved the breaks and you get the 6-speed trns w/ exhaust break. I do think you could get a better deal then 32K. Good-Luck!

If you delete high teens maybe low 20s. Without. Between 14 and 17. However. My 04.5 obly gets 18. So that shouldn't be the deciding factor I wouldn't thing. The 09 also still is fully warrentied. The 5.9 has a year left at best

I'd buy the '09 and do the deletes. Also if you do have cash on hand, money talks. Do you know how long the dealer has had the '09 on the lot?? I found my last truck (gasser) was sitting for 6 months (saw it on the delivery truck/tailer) and got a steal on it.
Even tho the '05 has low miles, that's still kinda high...unless laramie pkg. One thing on the '05's is that the t/h switch/button doesn't lock out o/d if you tow up anykind of hills....all it does is change the shift points. There are a few of us looking into a way to beable to lock out o/d instead of buying BD's box. So far nothing...
If you plan on doing any mods for more power, the 6.7 would be the better way since the pistons/inj went back to the '03 style and would not be taking a chance on melting the piston's like you would on the '05 truck. Just saying...

I vote '05. For $5,000 in savings you can pocket the cash or do some mods, especially if he'll extend the warranty.
I own an '05 and it's been outstanding. I had an '08 6.7 and sold it after 1 year and multiple "check engine" lights that the dealer told me to ignore because they couldn't fix the problems. The smog garbage on the '09 will wreck your mileage with all the regeneration cr@p. If they're both autos the '09 has a much better stock tranny. The 5.9 is a reliable and proven engine, and I don't like break downs and check engine lights. Maybe use part of the $5k in savings to upgrade the tranny if you're not happy with it?
Good luck.

Some 6.7 dont run like they should, the bluetec system has them in a chokehold and they fall flat on there face.
If you can delete, go for it. A deleted 6.7 is every bit as good, as reliable, and as powerful as a 5.9. Plus you get a 68re and an exhaust brake in the deal.
