HI I am new to the site and have been looking at diesels for the past year now. I am finally able to afford one and I am looking to buy used. I want a 2500 Dodge standard and would like to find anything from 03-05 with less that 100,000km. What r some buying tips and now that I live in Alberta if anyone can help me find a good dealer or private sale would be great. Thanks guys.

You had several choices of HP ratings 250-325, Cat was introduced in 04.5, 5 speed or 6 speed, LP location (lift pump) was finally moved to the fuel tank in 05.

Then ST or SLT or Laramie, then 2500 or 3500 SRW

I was looking for a used 04.5-05 1 ton LB on singles with a 6 speed and low miles, didn't want a high mile truck from the oil patch. Looked for months without any luck. I found dually's, I found short boxes with 6 speeds but no luck finding what I wanted.
I ended up getting a new 06 with 0% financing and am VERY happy, it's the first new vehicle we've ever owned.

If I were you I'd concentrate on the 04.5's or newer for more HP and torque, can't really help you find anything used, but will say there's probably good deals out there now on new 06's.
