Get those mud flaps!
Get those mud flaps!
I can't believe the amount of rock chips my new baby has >
. The paint must be quite weak. Some chips the size of an eraser head.
Anyway, the BFG's that came on my truck hold quite a few rocks and, spending an abundace of time off road, throw the rocks quite well. Going down the paved road you can hear the rocks chppin' away....pisses me off. Bought a set of factory mud guards, not the flimsy flaps, off ebay to hopefully remedy this problem. Road salt isn't too far away either...Anyway, get those flaps on there....wish I did from day one.

Re:Get those mud flaps!
8) You are soooo right, buddy. My truck actually came with mudflaps from the dealer - he does a promo thing with his company logo on 'em. But, they were small and inadequate. I bought and installed the Dodge oversized flat front and rear mudflaps and installed 'em myself.

The Dodge molded mudflaps fit nicely but are small - only hanging down about 6 inches. The oversized ones hang down about 10 inches. You can also get the Dodge oversized flat "anti-spray" heavy rubber mudflaps that hang down about 12".

Best to y'all
Bill
Re:Get those mud flaps!
Just got my order in from Genos yesterday. Got the small ones Phil is talking about, they are merely "splash guards" not mud flaps like Phil is describing. Heck, who needs mud flaps in Oregon, it rains so much the mud all washes down the rivers!

And the Husky floor mats, man, they fit so great and so perfect, I can't believe they can make them to fit that good!

Hunter

Hmmm.... don't know, Bob. The parts guy at my dealer (West Valley Dodge) is one of those who just orders anything close to what you want, takes 'em out in the parking lot and holds 'em up to the truck to see what works, then sends all the rest back to the warehouse.

----------

Oh yeah, some of you may want the part # for the ones in the picture: "82203705 Guard Kit." $13 a set (!!!) 'cause they are the plastic ones you have to mark and drill yourself (not model specific). Same sets for front and rear. I had to cut the back ones to fit in my wheel well liners I installed.

Best to y'all
Bill
Re:Get those mud flaps!
I think mine was the only one on the lot of "West Valley Dodge" that didn't have the "free advertising" flaps on the back.
I wanted that size for the back, but the only way they came was with the ad on it.
(guess they went smaller for the 03's, the ones on the rest of the '02's were pretty meaty)
The 2 snowstorms I drove it in early last spring resulted in my nerf bars coated with ice from the bar to the bottom of the door, all the way back.
I got 4 like Utah has (Ram isn't shiny though :'( )
Self install, holes in front had to be drilled, back 3 were already there, had to drill 1.
Time will tell if they are big enough.
I'm betting I'll have to get bigger ones again next spring when I get my bigger tires, but, they might still work.

Flaps are 12 x 18 inches. Bought them at Kragen Auto (In your area may be Schucks or Checker) $16.99. They are PlastiColor brand and fiberglass reinforced.
Plan on putting a matching pair on the front, will save the paint on lower doors.

Phil!

You dog, now that I got splash guards from Geno, (they look exactly like yours) except for the red ram head!

Why didn't you inform your good friends of this important thingie?

Hunter shaking his head
Re:Get those mud flaps!
I stopped by Kragen Auto (Checker/Schucks) To see if they had another set of mud flaps for the front of my 2003. They were in stock, Surprise they are now on sale at $14.99. Sale ends in the first part of December. They are the large ones with the Ram's Head Logo. No excuses, everyone gets some mud flaps at a "dirt cheap price".
