Fuel Tank Vent Kit Installed - Finally

Well after having the kit in my garage for over 2 years I finally got it installed.

in February I had to make a trip to North Dakota, after standing in the cold topping of my fuel tank in -20 temps, I promised myself I would install the vent kit.

This past weekend my brother & I got it installed in about 2 1/2 hours. The biggest problem we had was with the front tank mount strap, we couldnt' get it off from the frame and with a long box it ends up in a bearing support. Other than that the install went smoothly. I'll put some photos up later. The kit I had was the original one that "T"'s into the existing vent line. I've filled up twice with no leaks so we must have done something right.

Kudos to David for coming up with this kit.

My only suggestion is to have your skinny 16 year old son crawl up in the fender well and disconnect the fuel and electrical connections. That was the only problem I had with the install. My fender wells did not want to come out easily.

Its a long reach,to get to the lines and electrical, but I was reaching around two tires not one.Other then that its just like the directions said it would be. And while your under there get the stuff and do the roll over vent mod also.

Luvnacumns - Shouldn't be a problem as long as you follow the directions. I'm assuming you have the new style kit that caps off the existing vent and runs a new vent line. Yours should actually be easier, as I mentioned I had the old style kit where I had to install a "T" in the existing vent line.

The only other thing is the fuel line connections, one of mine was way easy and the other was a bear, the most rearward one was the easiest.

Good Luck

In order to get the fuel lines off put a zip tie around the tabs and the lines will come right off. After exhausting the english vocabulary, I tried the zip tie trick and they came off in seconds.
