dang PSD's have a metal plate under the fuel tank. you don't need it if it don't run...but hey...they have it...

last page of the RAM brochure, "option groups"
2500/3500 - off road group ....fuel tank skid plate..."

i could not find the ORP on the dodge website

The protection group was on hold when I got my truck. Does anyone sell any worthwhile aftermarket skid plates?

I`ve heard of guys making there own, but i dont think they are available for us aftermarket yet. I was dissapointed as well when i got under my rig, and saw i paid $$ for the protection group, and found only the transfer case plate If anyone finds them aftermarket, let us know.

My early 04 was billed to have the fuel tank skid plate as well as the transfer skid plate for about $125.00. By the time it was delivered, they only offered the transfer plate for $85.00. I brought this to my dealers attention and they cut me a check for the difference.

ah see hop sing....

it plainly says on the window sticker, under off road group:
"skid plate shield - transfer case"

$825 - cost, also listed:
Tow hooks
Decal (my dealer this was new for 04 on Heavy Duty trucks- looks GREAT)
Axle - anti spin diff
Fog lamps
skid plate - transfer case.

my understanding is the off road group also got me 4:10's, is that correct?
says axle - rear 11.50; i assume that is the size of the ring gear?

Off road group gets you a 4.10. That's why I won't order it. I will order the protection group for the tow hooks...not the flimsy piece of tin under the transfer case. I should save the $85 but I want the hooks that I probably never use. Maybe when I get my truck, I'll drive around in the snow until I find someone stuck and pull them out just to use the hooks.

one buddy's dad changed his rear to the 4:10 in his dually. said that the 4:10's gave him the max towing capacity of the truck,

and greatly increased his around town acceleration.

how much mileage would the 4:10 lose, or what's your dis-like of them?

i really enjoy my trucks ability to come of the line and get moving, it's quicker than most stock gas trucks, but a gas truck with mild mod's should be quicker off the line, agree?
