Fold down back seat

I am going to buy a used truck. I want a four door model with independant doors. A 2003 or later quad cab. On the later Chevies the back seat will fold down to a flat catgo area. Is that available in a Dodge and if so what year did it become available?

I have a 1990 Cummins pickup so my preferance is to upgrade in the Dodge line.

Also, when was the last year that 16 inch wheels were available?

Tim

the 03 to 05 line the bottom part in the seat fold up and there is an optional fold flat floor that folds out to make a flat area. in the mega cabs, the back seats fold down to make a big area. I believe the last year for the 16" wheels was 2002. starting in 03 all wheels are 17". Im not caught up on those details for the 02 and below so don't hold me to that.

Here's the summary: 03, 04, and 05 (no mega cab) 4 door models rear seat back does not fold down. Only the seat bottom folds up. '06 mega cab model, rear seat folds down (as per HorseHauler).

Does anyone know how to fold the back seat down? I need to clean my back window and the darn head rest is in the way.........can't find anything in the owners manual that describes how to fold the back rest down. Folding the seat up is no problem, just that darn backrest.....thanks for the help.

I, too would like to get my seat back down. I have a Saddleman seat cover for the rear, and since I can't get to the back, its just folded over the top...a real pain, when someone slides in the back, cause its always falling off.

Neil 58 - Remove the headrests - look at the base of the headrest posts, there is a tab you press while pulling up on the rest, and it slides right out.

Greasemonki - Yours isn't as easy, but not bad - you have to remove the rear seats. They're held in by four large bolts per seat section, fold the seats up and look at the base plates on the floor pan brackets. R/R takes about 15 minutes per seat.

I pulled one of the headrests off so my sons car seat would sit better. One thing I did notice when I was trying to fold down the seatback is that as you lift the seat, the seatback comes away from the back of the cab slightly, then goes back as you continue to raise the seat. This helped securing one of the clips for my sons seat.
