Really interesting problem lately. I had the issue with the yellow wire on the starter and has been fixed. Yesterday it finally got cold here in Seattle and when I went out to start the truck I waited for the "glow-Plug" light to extinguish and then started the truck. All appearsd normal until all of the lights dim and the voltage meter drops to 10 volts. It stays like that for a few seconds and then returns to normal (around 13-14 volts when running). Then it repeated the same for a couple of minutes until the truck warmed up and then everything was great. Got to the store, turned the truck off and when I returned a few minutes later the same thing happened again. It happens every time i start the truck now but does not affect the driveability or the starting of the truck. I have turned on and off all of the electrical (stereo, lights, fan) I can with no change. Any help would be appreciated

 

Grid Heater. Normal in cold weather. Once truck warms up, it should stop.


NO glow plugs.

 

yup, grid heater is cycling. Turn off your radio and headlight (if you have them on) it will help just a tad, but it will still be there. Plugging the truck in at night also keeps the grid heater from coming as much.

 

Also if you drive it above 15 mph it will also stop cycling the heaters.
